Besides being a source with verylow implementation impact, the wind does not emit CO2 in its operation, replacing, therefore, other sources of electric power generation with emission. The chart shows the quantity of CO2 emissions avoided by the wind source every month.
In 2018, a total of 21.5 million tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the total annual emission of nearly 16 million cars, were avoided. For comparison, it is important to inform that the city of São Paulo has a fleet of more than 6 million cars, and the state of São Paulo has more than 18 million cars.
According to ANEEL/ABEEolica data, wind energy is the third generation source in the Brazilian electricity matrix and each installed MW corresponds to 15 job positions.
Currently, 21% of the water utilized at TEN is reclaimed, from the Effluents Treatment Station, and 11% of the generated waste is destined for recycling.
Concerned with environmental preservation, of the total area of 142,000 m² TEN maintains a legal reserve with 28,400 m² of native forest, even with the operation not affecting the local biodiversity. In this area, 5,100 seedings were planted.
